Print Management System

The School of Education and Human Development has a print management/billing system for all networked printers and copiers in order to align billing with printing and copying activities. Printing and copying to all network printers/copiers that are under contract with UVa’s Printing and Copying Services (PCS) are billed to departments on a monthly basis. Printing to network printers, including those in offices and other departmental locations, is tracked to help manage printing and support costs. Finally, scanning is also tracked by the system and scans assigned to accounts, but there is no charge for scanning. Papercut is the software used to track this information.

Papercut Setup

  • ETO Assigned devices will already have Papercut installed.
    • If you are using a Windows machine, you may need to install the print queues on your machine. Please see the instructions on this page.
    • MacOS devices will already have the print queues installed. This does not include optional Departmental Network Printers. If you need to add a departmental network printer, please see the instructions on this page.
  • If you are using a personal device, follow these instructions to install it. When you leave EHD, please uninstall it from your machine using these instructions.

How Do I Print Now?

  1. From your software application, print as you normally would. (Select either SecurePrintQueue-Black-and-White or SecurePrintQueue-Color when selecting a printer)
  2. The PaperCut client pops up. Select the shared account to which you want to bill this print job. The system defaults to showing the last account you selected. Click the Print button. Note that you will only see accounts which you are authorized to use:
    • Note For MacOS Users: The first time you print, you will be prompted to provide your Netbadge password. Make sure to click "Remember this password in my keychain." Whenever you update your Netbadge password, you will need to follow these instructions to update it in your keychain.
  3. Release your print job. This is done one of two ways:

The first time you swipe your ID at the printer, you will be prompted to authenticate using your Computing ID & Netbadge password. You should only need to do this once unless your UVa ID changes.
